God speaking through dreams

How do Recognize that a Dream Belongs to God?

It is a very important factor to differentiate a normal dream from a vision. For instance, if a person is God-loving and attached to his Word and desires to be taught by God, but God doesn’t talk to him then it will be hard to differentiate his dream from his vision.

There are the following steps to recognize that a dream belongs to God.

Pray to God:

If God spoke with you in a dream then you must stay in prayer and seek his help to understand his will that what he wants, and how he will utilize you for this purpose.

Consult from God’s word:

If a person felt that God spoke to him in a dream then he must consult it from God’s Word. He should understand the message which God gave him in a dream and read the Word of God to understand that the message belongs to God and that God spoke with him in real.

Talk to another believer to whom God has already spoken:

If a person felt that God spoke to him, he should talk to a believer who has already experienced the voice of God. Then he should tell others about his expertise and the message that God gave him. Maybe another person who believes with whom Deity already spoke will appropriately guide and act on his behalf.

Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered, “Here I am.” And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down. Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.

A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

And the Lord said to Samuel: “See, I am about to do something in Israel that will make the ears of everyone who hears about it tingle. At that time I will carry out against Eli everything I spoke against his family—from beginning to end. For I told him that I would judge his family forever because of the sin he knew about; his sons blasphemed God, and he failed to restrain them. Therefore I swore to the house of Eli, ‘The guilt of Eli’s house will never be atoned for by sacrifice or offering.’ (1 Samuel 3:4 -14, NIV)

Understand the signs:

Communication with God through a dream is an experience of the supernatural. If God Spoke with you through a dream but you are confused was it God or my intuition? If God spoke to you then he will show similar signs to you according to your vision which he gave.

These signs may be such as you listening to the pastor preaching the same sermon as God gave you in your dream, it may include such events that will happen in your surroundings from which you can understand that it was God.

God will be the main focus of your vision:

To understand this, that how God himself is the focus person of the point of his vision, then just think about the king who is deriving his kingdom, because God the Lord is our King and all the creatures in the universe is his kingdom so we will be the main focus to revel himself on his creation.

Caution:

It is important to note that satan is the biggest liar. He can alter his appearance and can become an angel, “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” (2 Corinthians – 11:14, ESV).

when god speaks to you

When God Speaks to You Through Dreams?

The basic need is to prohibit people from their bad deeds so that they should repent from their sins and be aware of them to be saved from his wrath. Therefore God then needs a specific person to whom he can speak.

If God wants to speak with a specific region he will choose the person of that region. It is an important factor because a person living in that region better understands his people, he knows how to tackle them or how they will listen to him.

Why does God need to speak through dreams?

  • To reveal himself in creation

Due to an incomplete understanding of God, God needed to reveal himself to his creature. Why does his revelation be necessary? It was necessary because if he kept himself hidden from humans then they got scattered and make their gods and worship him, as many nations did.

  • To interpret his word to the chosen person

The second reason God speaks through dreams is to interpret his own words to his people. Interpretation of his word is necessary because other than the Author (as God is the author of the bible) no other person can interpret the Author’s words. Like William, Martin Luthor, and John Calvin.
